We have a mediation team at Metalab called Anlaufstelle. If you are experiencing difficulties with the space or with other individuals, and are unable or unwilling to resolve these issues on your own, you may contact our mediators:

You can contact the individual persons personally or reach us collectively at anlaufstelle@metalab.at. The address is purely a forwarding address – all emails go directly to the persons mentioned above. There is no mailing list and no archive on the Metalab server.

Two members (Sonstwer, eest9) are often on site, two (Juli, Elschi) less frequently. This can be helpful when a more neutral outside perspective is needed. Please note: All members of the Anlaufstelle also visit Metalab privately.

Please read our Code of Conduct.

ÖGS – Austrian Sign Language

eest9 has sufficient knowledge of ÖGS and can also be a contact person for deaf people. Sonstwer is still learning ÖGS and does not yet know many words. If necessary, an interpreter can be called in – however, this requires advance notice and cost approval.

How we work

We discuss all enquiries together and usually respond within a week. We treat all content as strictly confidential – we only share it with your express consent.

What are we here for?

The Anlaufstelle can:

  • Listen
  • Mediate
  • Reconcile
  • Represent

The Anlaufstelle is responsible for:

  • Concerns raised by members of the Metalab community who approach us directly as the point of contact for those affected/involved.
  • Conflicts where personal communication is insufficient (we provide support, we do not argue on your behalf)
  • Mediation within a limited (time) frame for two or more people.

The Anlaufstelle cannot:

  • Issue bans from metalab.
  • Determine guilt or act as an arbitration tribunal.
  • Convey messages.
  • Moderate mailing lists, chats or forums.
  • Offer couples therapy.

Some issues or solution strategies are better dealt with by the social plenary, Jour Fixe or the metalab board (called Vorstand). If we suspect this to be the case, we will let you know.
