Self-awareness is understanding the concept of existing as an individual having thoughts feelings and ideas, and that those are separate from those of others around you. And from this self-awareness, the age old questions of identity were born: Who am I? Why am I?

And over time, in an attempt to answer these questions, to give meaning to life, to help take meaning from life, we have found tribes of people with whom we identify. And with these people, we spend time, develop outward identities to include apparel, body art, or none, find homes away from home where like others congregate. In these second homes, we engage in the activity particular to a tribe, be it discussing religion, experimenting with various substances, playing a sport or perhaps, videogames.

And this last, videogames, is a defining feature of our tribe. Not the defining feature, but certainly one. But what else is there? Who are we? What is our place in the world?

Aktuelle Version vom 30. April 2007, 02:20 Uhr

Hallo, das ist die Konzept/Planungsseite für das Metalab Department of Games (=Gaming Jour Fixe + Game Development)

Metalab Department of Games

  • spiele & spielkonzepte presentieren
  • ideen brainstorming
  • auch wirklich spiele entwickeln
  • gjf <-> gamedev weekend (gamelab)

gjf 2.0

mehr ordnung! focus auf präsentationen statt nur slacken und zocken

focus:

  • spiele / features / warum is cool präsentieren
  • ideenfindung und brainstorming
  • socializing zwischen leuten der szene
    • gute kontakte zur wiener szene existieren mittlerweile
      • user:cbx -> igda, ex-rockstar
      • user:philipp -> games college, avaloop
      • robert glashüttner
      • vertex-4 waren auch schon mal da

massnahmen:

gamedev weekends

  • wochenende vorm gjf
  • target: ein scrum sprint fürs nächste gjf fertig -> shippable!!!111
    • baby steps to a complete game (motivation - people admire it. yay)
  • ultimate goal: spiel fertigentwickeln
  • why dedicated weekends? "is it can be gamedevelopment time now" ... zwischen all meinen projekten muss ich mir dediziert timeslices für solche sachen nehmen.
    • "durchs metalab dediziert zeit haben die für spielentwicklung reserviert ist"

provides:

  • infrastruktur (svn) game.metalab.at

MDG Manifest
