Was wir heute gelernt haben:
Embroidering a logo
Embroidery machine at metalab. https://metalab.at/wiki/Stickmaschine
Left Click hackspace in Ljubljana is getting a new Logo and some Metalab folks are visiting.
https://metalab.at/wiki/Metalab_goes_Left_Click Trying to do some embroidery of the new logo to bring as a gift.
Some alignmets of the multiple layers were wrong. Turns out, the frame is held in place with magnets which disturbs the sensors of the embroidery machine.
With a plastic frame without magnets alignments are perfect.
Input for the embroidery machine. - SVG works (only if it has clean paths.) - Autoconverted from vectorised pixel art takes a lot of effort to clean up, usually faster to recreate as clean paths.

WHY Electronic Badge
https://wiki.why2025.org/Badge
Two ESP32 µControllers and many sensors. Most of it doesn’t yet fully work. Banana firmware ripes at the users.
Also does WiFi, LoRaWAN
Updates DO work which helps a lot!
You can (almost) play DOOM. (Game runs, but input doesn’t work properly.)
Reports of the badge being a fire hazard are highly exaggerated. https://www.krekr.nl/content/why2025-badge-fire-hazard-additional-issues/

Things like: Braille Sheet Music, color coding
Music notation (XML-based music encoding) in a browser. https://mei-friend.mdw.ac.at
XML-based music encoding holds a lot more metadata than MIDI ever could (MEI format even more than MusicXML). MusicXML and MEI are both examples of XML-based music encoding formats, many other formats exist and have been developed for decades.
Important for researchers. You can build a composer’s corpus with this.
Petrucci Music Library
Sharing the world’s public domain music
Lots of royalty free sheet music available as PDFs.
Encyclopedia Metallum
Ginormous amounts of data and metadata about Metal bands. https://www.metal-archives.com
Musicbrainz
Lot’s of metadata about albums, especially CDs. https://musicbrainz.org
Man music players that can play CDs can import metadata from there. Courisouly enough the album metadata is NOT part of the RedBook Audio standard. So a CD doesn’t actually contain any info what music is on there.
MyNoise
A noise generator. Based on real world soundscape recordings.
MUSOPEN
We provide recordings, sheet music, and textbooks to the public for free, without copyright restrictions. Put simply, our mission is to set music free.

We try to build an accessible, inclusive, open, safer and radical space, from which to evolve as people and as community. Open Source Technology is at the root of our philosophy, it enables us to share and collaborate without restrictions. We need this space to experiment with things as gender, hardware or our selves.
