DISCRIMINATION is the unfair treatment of a person, sex, racial group, minority, etc., i.e. action based on prejudice.

There are safe spaces like the women and trans only hackerspace Miss Baltazar's laboratory[0] and these at times provide an environment that is only accessible to underrepresented groups such as woman. That is a good and valid thing since it helps to open our community to people that might otherwise never find access to it.
The issues pointed out by this petition are not exclusive to the hacker community and often have causes that are beyond our sphere of influence. This should not stop us from taking action against them. People have done so in the past and we have made progress in some fields.
