Krita (https://krita.org) is THE up-and-coming free/libre digital painting/image editing suite that everybody in the field should seriously take a long and good look at.
It has all the tools you're probably ever going to need, it's fast and stable, supports your tablet, it's got a great, friendly community, and is developed by a community-funded team of developers and artists, backed by a non-profit foundation in the Netherlands.
