== Problem / Working task ==
The time has advanced and meanwhile most videos are stored on HDDs in an homeserver instead of handling around with DVDs or BlueRays. For this reason the Videos need to be ripped/converted on a hard disc. This is a open lecture where several people will share their experience with ffmpeg aka avconv, Mplayer, handbrake and other video editing tools with you.
== Technical ==
* Technical basics of Videos like GOP-Group of Pictures, framerates, codecs and containers
* Which data/tracks can you find in containers and how to manipulate them
* Ripping adjustments and scaling of videos - DVDs of former times have and 4:3 scaling
* What criteria do I have to keep in mind in order to have a reasonable quality at efficient size of the Video
* Remove fragmets of Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) television from videos
